My boyfriend told me his mom wants to take my mom out to lunch to get to know each other. What do you make of this? They've met each other and talked several times but his mom wants a one on one lunch with my mom.

Gosh I don't know I think maybe it is one woman wanting to get to know another woman in a place outside of a social group gathering. I think this because this is what your boyfriend says his mom wants. No other indication that it is anything outside of having lunch and getting to know someone better.

Sounds to me like his mom realizes that after this much time you must be pretty important to him so she just wants to get to know your family better.

This saga has gone on for about a year or it seems like it's longer.

Mothers going to lunch tougher... What will happen next? Craft shows? Quilting bees? Oh the humanity.

Last Saturday my wife and her mother in law went shopping and lunch. By all accounts a good time was had by both.

Oh, it's you. Sorry I'm not stalking, was only reading fresh threads and didn't notice who posted.

If it were anyone else, I'd say perhaps it was an indication things were getting serious. In your case... You're still dating him?

It means that his mother is starting to think the relationship might be serious.

When my husband and I were dating for a while and it appeared that we were serious, my parents invited his parents over for dinner to get to know them.

IDDY--maybe the time is finally coming?!?!

PS--has he gotten better? Is he doing rehab?
