People who look at some of those Hollywood films as some sort of relationship guide even though they are just supposed to be for entertainment are ruining relationships.

If you are an adult and you're taking your cues about relationships from Hollywood, then you're an idiot.

Yes. I think film and TV have influenced people's expectations to a degree. And notice that the women always have to be perky and attractive, but it's ok for the men to be schlumps sometimes (as in: sleepless in Seattle, when Harry met Sally, etc.)

I agree.

I do also think that sometimes people subconsciously pick things up.... to some degree.

I just think that's wrong.

Tom Hanks is pretty tall and handsome. Same league as Meg Ryan.

And Billy Crystal isn't too bad.

Who do you think would be the equal for those guys?

This is especially true in childhood and the teen years. Those subliminal messages seep in, and before they know it, people are programmed with expectations for adulthood.

I think it´s quite clear that the Media, as a whole, has a heavy influence. When you've watched/read the same thing your entire life, it definitely has a way of manipulating you.
I have noticed that, in general, people tend to understand it´s power. That doesn't mean it doesn't affect them on different levels, but at least many people are aware of what they are buying into.

That's why I don't watch movies.
