How to find out if a girl is cuddly before we get more serious? (dating, personality)

Went out with a girl a couple weeks ago from a dating site, one reason I haven't pushed myself to follow through is while we meshed well on a certain comic/wit level, and she seems nice, is she seems to confident/self-supported (emotionally speaking, what's the word?)
Whereas I'm a total mush, and am looking for someone to lean on. And I'm always going to want copious amounts of cuddling.
How could I figure out if girl has that mushy side of her before we go to forward? If I invite her over to watch a movie to get her on my cuddle-couch, that sounds too much like I'm looking for sex, and SHE might want sex.
Are there public places to cuddle? I feel like I've heard of movie theatres in New York City that have couches in them?
I would use the highway lookouts here in Jersey, but it's hard to set up, why would you actually stop there?

I think Duchamp is right... it just takes time. If she's as lighthearted and at ease with herself as it sounds from your description, it might work just to ask her. Something simple/funny like, "what are your thoughts on cuddling? Is it only for kittens and do you think there is a discrimination against porcupines?" If she doesn't answer how she feels about cuddling somehow, then flat out as her, "how about you?" Short of time, it's the only way to know for sure. But I would be very sure you think she'd be comfortable with that sort of question--if in doubt, don't ask (I am guessing at her personality here).

As a start, go for a walk and see how she takes hand holding. Her body language will give you a clue as to how much of a cuddlier she might be. Be aware you can get a wrong signal if you grab her too early.
Ew. "Your hand"? What does that mean? Ew dude, in a movie theatre, and on the second date?
