I'm mean it's not an expensive/high maintenance car compared to, say a new Mercedes S-Class, (any bozo with enough money could go buy one tomorrow...nothing special there), but it's obscure and rare to those looking for one.

I just think (and maybe I'm misreading the OP) that he's looking for a woman who pretty much looks just like all the women who ARE high maintenance, but she's not high-maintenance, and she would not mind dating a guy who doesn't intend to spend much money on her.
Which is a challenge. See: aforementioned Toyota.

I had a shrink who gave me an exercise once to help me understand the difference between what love for a person and love for a material object. His example was cars. I had to learn to recognize people in ways that I couldn't describe cars. Giving me the opportunity to understand people better than just nice, pretty, special, cool, smart. Seems basic I'm sure, but harder than you think.

More people should see shrinks like the one you just mentioned, if they are struggling with that concept.
