Well, mine isn't. But according to this link, my ex-bf is. He falls directly under everything they have listed.

It's something how they can draw people in. The problem with me was that he had me drawn in for quite some time before any of my family and friends met him. I remember my sister telling me he acted like a psychopath and I thought she was nuts.

10 Signs Your Man Is A Psychopath

The link comes up as man, but I am quite sure it works both ways.

Someone left me a remark in the rep comments and the answer is yes but also falls under the OP where I said that he had me drawn in before my family and friends met him.

@ Hucklberry, I am going by what this article says. He really falls directly under everything listed in it. At this point, I couldn't care one way or the other.

I am happy and he may as well have not have existed, but I also feel that all of my choices of the past got me to where I am now.

I just really posted this for others and have some personal experience with it. I am going to look at your link and see if he compares to what is in there.

I dated someone that fit 9 out of 10 of from the article. It was just awful. Needless to say a learning experience for me.

Psychopathy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://www.psychologytoday.com/basics/psychopathy yes, he matches. He was much more than a manipulative charmer. That is for sure.

At any rate, I do believe there is a lot of truth to the article, whether or not a person is a psychopath or a manipulative charmer.

Psychopaths are 1 out of 25 people, brain studies show. It's not as rare as people think. OP is not nuts to think it applies.

Sobering.....7 & 8 are major for my situation.
The silent treatment, and disappearing.....both on the list- are huge red flags for me.

One of the articles listed in the above link is about how psychopaths choose their victims. It turns out they evaluate body language.

Body language that implies a lack of confidence --- read: socially submissive --- includes lack of eye contact, fidgeting of the hands and feet, and the avoidance of large gestures when shifting posture. It also says a person's stride will mark them as a potential victim; large, confident strides will ward away psychopaths.

That's good to know, but I don't like the blame-the-victim implications of that. I've heard of women going to counseling after suffering an assault, and being told by the psychologist that they were "giving off a vibe", or somehow "being victim-y" or something. That's not helpful.

Yikes. I don't think I have EVER known a guy like that. Couldn't you see him for what he was?
