Yesterday, I went to watch a band alone.

I knew people there but was choosing to sit quietly by myself.

A guy introduced himself.

He was quite badly dressed, a 20 year old sweatshirt all faded, rumpled pants. Clean but not groomed. Age about 55.

He took a shine to me and started chatting away. I chatted back. This is all outdoors btw, nice grassed area, lots of room.

When we went back inside, he began talking to me again. I was listening to the band, but this guy just kept teasing me about my accent (a pet hate) and leaning in to my space.

I actually asked him to step back and he said "it takes all sorts to make a world, I'm a sociable guy" and not only STAYED in my personal space, he also touched me.

I flinched back and said "don't" and he's all "what's the matter with you? I'm just being friendly. I'm a sociable guy".

So I end up being the bad guy, like I'm being unreasonable NOT to want to be touched or hear the same "you come from overseas" stuff, honestly, wtf? How many times do you think I've heard the exact same lines?

Thoughts? How would you have handled it? I left. Kinda ruined my night.

I honestly would've walked away.

Come across manipulative and rude people like that a lot. It is very annoying.

If he was making you feel uncomfortable I don't blame you for being stand offish. You weren't the bad guy at all. He was just trying to get you to do what he wants by making you feel that way.

He sounded a little "off" mentally, if you ask me. The unkempt appearance, the PERSISTENT boundary issues...

If he'd continued, I might have gone to the management or the bouncer, or someone in some kind of authority.

He's a bottom. I'm sorry he ruined your night. Some day he'll probably get smacked around. You did nothing wrong.

i think you could have gone to the club management, or said rather loudly something like, if you dont stop touching me i am going to have you thrown out of here.

in the end you were not the bad guy, he was, dont ever change. there are some of us guys that do tend to touch a little more than we should, and we have to recognize that and honor your personal space.

as for your accent, no matter what it is, i love it. i have worked with and dated people that have accents from around the world and i have yet to find one i dont like.

My goodness, the bartenders must crush up Viagra and put it in the mens' drinks at these pubs you frequent...bunch of horn dogs, lol. Seriously though, a "buzz off creep" sounds appropriate after the first warning.

Ha thanks guys.

Yes I think Australian men leave a lot to be desired in general.

Possibly American men too, the Woman Hating runs strong (see: every porno ever made, every woman ever based, raped or murdered).

I am not trying to be racist or sexist but seriously on the whole I think women have a right to be disappointed in the way we're treated.

And our societies are the BEST ones! Scary!!
