Tinder reminds me of something that used to be called the party line back in 2001 when tons of people was on this chat line at the same time. I didn't take the party line seriously because it was a free line with tons of people and that's the same way Tinder is in 2016.

Exactly, which is why I used to have this opening statement on the party line.
"I'm seeking a woman who is attractive, employed, lives in a nice neighborhood, intelligent, and college educated with no kids, no pets, cable, nice body, and a sense of humor"
Of course that request was a joke which is why I always used it on the PL lol
But since that is the case it just makes sense to not take Tinder seriously.
But regardless of where you meet a woman, she's likely to be in communication with other men and have other options besides you. You wouldn't want a woman if you were her only option.

I heard a lot of people use it when they're out of town for work or whatever and it gives then an easy way to hook up versus hanging out at the hotel bar?

No, it's not. Most of the guys on here who've used it don't sound like they've been successful in hooking up with anyone.
