So a couple of my single friends (female and male) were telling me about this new "dating app" called Tinder.
Basically, you see someone, and if you swipe right or press this green checkmark, you are saying "yes" to them, and if you swipe left/press this red X, you are saying "no".
If you right swipe someone who happened to right swipe you, you become a match and can then talk to them. If you right swipe someone who left swiped you, well, you have no way of knowing if they left swiped you.
This is pretty popular with the college crowd, and people in their mid 20's (such as I). I am dating somebody right now, so I would never get it, but what do you all think of this? Not sure if any of you have it. I do think it encourages people to be shallow... my female friends (who are extremely pretty) pretty much get a match with every guy they "right swipe"... so therefore they can be more shallow/selective with who they right swipe. They also tend to get creepy messages from men. Basically seems like yet another ego boost for young women

I've never tried Tinder, but the OkCupid app has this swipe feature as well in the Locals section. I don't see what's shallow about it.
could be interesting if i had FB, but alas i dont. also not so sure it's much different from winking on dating profiles, e.g., wink-wink back-send msg to start conversation.

??? sometimes on a dating site i send 10-20 winks to anyone who i think is hot and interesting. so yeah, i'm sure there are lots of guys out there who send mega mass winks hoping one winks back.
