Im in my mid 30's and have had 19-23 year olds hit on me. In fact, two within the past month. I find it 'cute' and flattering, not at the least bit creepy.
I think the bigger issue is he lied. That would annoy me more than the age. As for why men do this, many assume that much younger women are interested. Some are, but most aren't. When I did online dating between 39-41 I had so many men in their 60's and 70's contact me and yes it was creepy and delusional, considering my age range wasn't anywhere near their age.
Yep I'm 36 and have girls aged 18-26 or so, hit on me all the time. Women my own age very very seldom do.
I just don't understand why. I would not date a 36 yr old at this point in my life. I'm fairly experienced, so that has nothing to do with it. I just think people need to date their own age. And a 37yr old guy trying to hook up with a 20 something is not mature at all.

I just wonder if you were hanging around 19 to 23 yr olds instead of people your own age and why?
It is and to me it comes off as desperate. I guess if 20 yr old women don't have many options, they'll go after the older guys.
You do realize that humans are allowed to be around other humans of different ages right?
This whole creepy thing appears to be your own issue and no one else's and believe it or not 20 something girls are not the end all and many men avoid that age group as much as possible because of their snitty attitude, entitlement mentaltity and the fact that a lot of them have proven themselves gold diggers and not worth the time it takes to shove them to the curb.
Why can't they go for someone their own age? I was on an online dating site and specifically said I wanted ages 24-28. This one guy pretended to be 27. When we began chatting, he revealed he was really 37 and lied because he really wanted to meet me. I told him he needs to look for women his own age and he got mad and told me I was not mature enough to handle a 37 year old. He said I have the looks but not the brains. Again, I told him we don't have much in common and he needs to look for women his own age. I just think it's really creepy for these older guys to try and hit on young women. Yes he was good looking, but I am looking for someone I have things in common with. Not an older guy pretending to be a young hot guy!
Older woman hate it and are in denial, largely because it further diminishes their already declining dating value. But it's a reality that older men are routinely sought after by much younger women.
