Purely from a biological perspective, why is it not the norm older women and younger men to marry (or be in a serious LTR).

I mean, women on average live 5 years longer than men do, so it only makes sense for them to be a better match, that having the man be 5 years older (a statistical 10 year gap in death---at least from an actuarial point of view).

Sure, why not?

I thought this was going to be about sex, and about older women being more of a match for guys 20 years younger.

5 years, meh.

It is the normal for some couples and has been since men and women became men and women.
I have never looked at a man made chronological number to determine who I was going to spend my time with and it certainly did not determine who I was going to lust after or fall in love with.

Women currently live longer than men on average because in the generation that is currently in that age group (primarily people born in the 1920s and 1930s), mostly men worked, while women stayed at home. In future generations (baby boomers, gen x, gen y, etc.), you'll likely see the lifespan even out.

Because younger men don't want to marry older women. Younger men just want to sleep with older women.

Purely from a biologic perspective, women are at their peak for fertility between the ages of 20-25. At these ages, if they married 5 years younger, their spouses would be 15-20..

I think that might be the peak of virility for men too. If we're looking at it from a purely biological perspective...

It's probably closer to 25, after which both males and females will begin to experience "aging" or the breaking down of their bodies. A 15 year old adolescent male will likely not have even reached his peak height/muscle mass. Females of course will lose fertility after going through menopause. Men will decline in virility however are still virile for most of their lives.

But orgasmically speaking, men peek in late teens, early 20s & women peak in early 30s...soooo....

Considering each would only be a few years from their supposed biological peak, why not strive for the win-win and have more orgasms too?

Plus, women probably peak emotionally around early 30s too, as far as in relation to their appearance declining.
But men never peak emotionally, sooo....

That would be nice 😁!

Unfortunately, nature doesn't care about orgasms or emotional maturity.. It's all about producing healthy offspring. In some species, the females and/or males will die immediately after sex or childbirth.
