I don't want a guy who smokes and drinks, and frankly the guys I've met at bars/clubs are so full of drama and psyhoses it could make your head spin!

My friends say that guys won't "pick up" on me outside of the bar because I don't give off a "vibe", but my gaydar sucks so if I catch a guy looking at me I don't know if he's checking me out or looking at something else, etc.

Forget the internet -- just not my thing.

Any ideas????

My friend meets guys at the gym.

He has also met them on the subway on his way to work.

He has also met them at get togethers at someones house.

In general, I would say that you would be able to meet someone for a date the same way anyone - gay or straight - would meet someone.

There are a lot of gay antique dealers. Also many gays in the arts and music scene. Get involved with a gay rights group. Just get out there and meet all types. Network. Most straight people know other gay people.

So, to the OP, what activities do you like to do? Are you involved in any sports?

I think my favorite piece of advice was to check out hair salons. lol... thats funny.

It sounds to me that the guys that you are meeting are too gay, am I correct? I myself like a man that is a man and I find too many gay men to be not manly enough. You are not going to meet a manly man at a hair salon or antique shop. I live in a part of California that is not gay open and found out that there is a local bar that hosts gays one night a week. I went two weeks ago and out of eighteen men there besides myself, only 2 did not act effeminate. I was hoping to find that there were some gay men in my local that were straight acting. Maybe you need to seek out a bi- sexual club or group.

Look for the local MCC (Metropolitan Community Church) in your area...or...volunteer for a GLBT related organization.
