I live in the Chicagoland area. It has been a long time since I dated, but things seem much different when you are not in college. Over the past year I have been trying to find a girlfriend to no avail. I just turned 30 and I am getting a bit worried that the type of girls I want may be a scarce commodity at my age. I would rather be single than be with someone I do not like, but it is still disheartening.
Some things I look for in women are: no children, non-religious, ~5'7''-6'0'', no drug issues, and preferably does not want children. So for you out there who may have similar preferences; what are your experiences in trying to find a woman with these attributes after 30? Or even if you have a different set of preferences, did you find that you had to compromise?

It just gets better, and man, I'm envious. I lived in Chicago for a bit (32-33) and its a goldmine. Maybe the single best place to be a dude and date. So many good looking women that have super reasonable minds and expectations, and just kind people because they're mostly from the upper midwest. Seriously, Chicago is like score land for professional 30 something dudes.

Just some quick comments:

Your height preference narrows down a pretty big chunk of women, as does the "not wanting children". As long as you keep those two in particular in mind, finding women to date in your 30's is pretty easy. Should be way easier than in your 20's.

Yeah, I don't get the height thing, but whatever. Loads of professional women in Chicago without children though. Its kind of young to decide that they'll never want them though at that age. The people I know (save 2) that had kids all decided that when they met the person they married, generally mid to late 30s.

I think things will get better for you too. Honestly, the only potential problem I see is the no children thing. Most people want kids (men and women) but there are plenty of women out there who don't as well. DINK is a thing after all (Dual income, no kids). I would imagine by 30 or so, most women know if they want kids or not (such a thing might be harder to pin down in someone younger/they are more apt to change their minds as they experience life).

I missed the height thing too. Most women are under 5'7". Would you be willing to give that item a pass, is a 6' tall woman really that important to you.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some tall women. But it's not a dealbreaker for me, I just don't know how important it is to the OP.

You're more likely to find tall women in Chicagoland than Southern California, just saying. I've lived in both places and am 6'0". Nordic stock is more prevalent in the Midwest.

I understand the height thing may seem odd; I just prefer women who are near-eye-level. I've dated short girls before, but always looking down at someone seems odd to me. I am ~182cm; so around 6'0''. It would not be an absolute deal-breaker if I met the right girl, but it is a preference. I definitely do not want children though; that may be a deal-breaker for her or me.

I am glad to see some encouragement already. A majority of my friends are either in relationships or married these days, so I feel a bit worried that I may be running out of time sometimes.

Thanks for the input so far!

A good majority of women are 5' 7" and under, you might need to loosen up the requirement a bit, on the childfree/less front you might have some luck, IDK, when I was in my 20's and single finding a woman under 30 without kids was pretty tough for me, hopefully you'll have better luck. I never wanted kids either so I feel ya on that.

Tell me about it. Not that I think OP is looking to move or anything, but he's got his best chance at tall ladies right where he's at.
