(OLD = online dating)

Lately I've seen women listed as "curvy" look not fat in the full pictures but actually shapely. That makes me, not open to overweight women, hesitate. Are they using old pics? (There's no easy way to quickly receive newly taken pics before a date, huh?) Do normal-weight women with big curves actually tend to list themselves as "curvy"? Don't they worry about that label's stigma? Such women are not a major dilemma for me - many clearer deal-breakers exist - but I'll put it out there because the issue probably affects many in online dating.

More than a few of my lady friends use the term when they're busty, but still have narrow to proportional waists (sometimes booty, sometimes not). It is one of the things I often have to coach friends that are new to OLD about (that curvy = fat to lots of dudes). Some are shocked at that tidbit, others think those guys are just dopes and no loss to have them pass over their profiles anyway.

Some women are curvy. They have big legs but not fat, big butt but not fat, rounded body but not fat.

That makes sense. The thing I forgot to include in post #1 is I wonder whether truly "curvy" women tend to noticeably fluctuate in weight and post just the pics from the skinnier phases. I personally wouldn't want to be with someone who sometimes looks unattractive to me, and, er, I believe most curvy women will be heavy by menopause anyway, so the current veracity of the weight isn't even my main aesthetic concern.

Yeah, because even if the pics are recent, they could be photoshopped or involve Spanx. Trust no one fully clothed (And then spurn the less clothed profiles as scams )

Well if you don't want a curvy woman don't date one.

I'm fat and I let the guy know I am so it isn't a surprise.

Surprisingly many men have insecurities themselves and I have to reassure that I'm ok with the way they look.

Sigh Lol. Are you suggesting women should put up more revealing pics (eg. two piece swimsuit)?

Not if you read the post after I edited it. And I'd be very wary of a curvy woman (this thread isn't just about my personal decision-making). Still, if tee shirts and Spanx are nearly incompatible, then I wish more "curvy" women would put t-shirt pics on their profiles - but (edit) it looks Spanx makes some compression t-shirts, uggh. The perils of modern technology. T-shirt with a slogan on it or something so that there's almost no chance it's shapewear.

Hopefully someone you really like and are attracted to won't become unattractive as a person because a few pounds fluctuation. And not everyone is attractive all the time, by a long shot.
