That about sums up what I came here to say. In a stressful time like this I'd like to have someone by my side to offer support not to mention having a woman's perspective on my prospective new place. That's just me, though.

My guess as well as it seemed like a very odd thing for anyone at all familiar with Timberline to say.

Now, if the problem is actually that he had some special arrangment where he paid less than what his housing was worth, and now he's got to get on the REAL rental market and he can't afford what he wants (a safe place in a decent area)...that's a whole other problem, he needs to set the goal of increasing his income or decreasing his living expenses or both. And if his credit isn't good he's going to have to accept less than posh housing regardless.
If he lived here, "affordable and safe" would quite likely translate to a shared housing situation. My friend just bought a house and will be paying the same for her mortgage as what her rent was about to increase to. It's pretty much the standard answer on my local board: "If that's your budget, you need to look into renting a room instead."

But with a 3% vacancy rate, as I've said before, the "safe" areas are generally not those that are the "affordable"/desirable areas.

No kidding!

Her response was "there tons of free events". I explained to her that I won't be any fun to be around right now and she gets annoyed and ends the call.

Isn't my situation a good reason not to date?

Lame excuse.

What does lease not being renewed have to do with money? Also why cant she help you look for a place.

Question for you, did you like that girl? Would you go out with her?

Do you know if she liked you? If answer is yes to all, you just blew it with her.

You can date and home search. Tell her that and im sure she would have understood it.

If I was a chick and a guy told me that, I would take it as an excuse to bail out from him.

Four months to find a new place to live locally? That is weak. I moved 700 miles from Louisville to DC and had everything done in 3 weeks. Your woman probably thinks you are either playing her or extremely stupid if it takes you 4 months to find a place to live.

First it's June, then it's 4 months, and now it's March 19th. Do you even calendar?

Also, she suggested doing things for free and that still wasn't a good answer for you. It's all good man, clearly this is a huge challenge for you, and having her in your life was not a priority right now. You were like, "wait until June, or move on" and she chose the "move on" option. What's the problem?

Where/how did you come up with this date as having to provide a security deposit when you just found out you have to move and haven't even started looking yet?

Usually, you pay the security deposit when you move in.

Please tell me this isn't true , let me tell you a true story
from the pages of my life. In 1978 when I was in the Military
I was transferred all the way from the East Coast to the West Coast on a half week notice ( Of Course I Had 1 month) Leave coming to me which I used to drive all over
COUNTRY and make it to my duty station in Metro LA....

I spent less than A Week on base before getting a room at
THE YMCA Which I kept until I found a apartment in the tight LA Real Estate Market...it may take you one or two
Months in the NYC or LA market , but that's not something
that should have you crying in your Cereal every morning..
And you should be able to go on free low cost dates such
as Picnic's , watching movies at home " or " cooking a home cooked meals for the two of you.....
