1. Does his job actually prevent him from taking medications? I only know a few jobs like that. People who work with nuclear weapons, top secret info, astronauts. Is he REALLY unable to take medications?
This sounds a lot like ME! I didn't see it happening, but I slowly became depressed an anxious, and I didn't admit it to myself for years. It wasn't until I ended up in the emergency room with a panic attack that I thought was a heart attack that I realized it was serious. I started taking zoloft in a very low dose. It has changed my life.
My marriage is better, my relationship with my kids is better, I am more productive at work, I have more energy, and I actually feel "happy" sometimes, my panic attacks have stopped, my jaw and neck pain from stress have talked, I'm laughing more, my sex drive is back.
Please have him see a doctor. Even if not medication, talk therapy might help.
I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. I didn't realize how bad I'd gotten until I started the zoloft and began to feel like a human again. My husband said it may have saved our marriage.
He needs a professional.
What a great testimonial! So glad to hear Zoloft worked so well for you! I like happy endings. That would be cool if it worked like that for the OP's husband.
