That's all part of being charming, flirty etc so complimenting a lady is NOT exactly out of the ordinary as it's all part of dating and courtship, in other words from ^^^^ alone it's bloody impossible to know if it's just sex or more that he's after LOL.
Signs..... Has he been talking about things OTHER than the sex? In other words my point was if he's too focused on the sex part and shows less interest in YOU as a person i.e. Your interests, hobbies and goals etc then that's quite safe to say that he's only interested in one thing.
The "if I was dating" specifier pretty much says it all.
