So let me get this straight:

A guy who "is a good guy, he's caring, thoughtful, gives me massages, helps me around the house and is fun to be with."

Who finds his own transportation to work despite not having a car and pays the restaurant meal when he and his girlfriend go out to eat together.............. when she picks him up now and then 25 miles out of the way (50 miles total)

Isn't good enough for you?

Hilarious!

He SHOULD pay for the restaurant meal when she's paying for gas and wear and tear on her vehicle.

Just like women should pay for the restaurant bill when men pick them up on dates, right?

Gentlemen pay for the dates...unless they really want to look tacky and divide it up.

According to your logic though, the person getting picked up SHOULD pay for dates since the other person is paying for gas and wear and tear on their vehicle.

I don't understand why he can't just meet her at the date venue? If he can get around on his own during the week, why can't he on the weekends, as well? Or on date nights, or whatever? Then she could drive him home afterwards, but at least he'll be helping alleviate the burden of the long-distance driving involved.

And how long have they been dating? Sounds like quite awhile. Why is he still paying for everything? Why not put everything on the table for negotiation, at this stage; he gets himself to the date venue on his own steam, she pays her own way, and drops him off after the date. Aren't relationships about compromise? If he's a great guy, why can't all of this be discussed?

If she drives to the venue to meet him and then has to drive him home and then drive herself back home, it's still the same distance overall.

As I understand it, when someone has had a DUI, they may have a restricted license and be allowed to drive to work, but not elsewhere.

I would inspect that license again.

You ask for advice, then you are finding reason to cut him some slack.

In the vast majority of this country, you most definitely need your own form of transportation. You don't have to have a car, but you will need something to get around. Even if you are taking public transportation, you are depending on another means to get to and from, it's not total independent. What if public transportation breaks down, extreme weather, traffic gridlock, a strike, then you can't get where you are going. Your independent is limited in that situation.
