Frequently vacation places are horrible places to live for a variety of reasons.
We looked at Sedona, and while we loved it, it becomes insane during tourist season, and going to dinner could take an hour to go 5 miles. Same with Tahoe, we were warned by someone who moved there that they could barely get out of their drive way during ski season.
You have a transient population (who are there to have fun, don't care about preserving the area, etc.), and business that cater to tourists (cheap restaurants, etc.).
It's not always bad, but frequently your requirements are different for where you vacation and where you live.
lol. I've never heard that about Sedona. Or Tahoe. Hilarious! Except if you live there...
