Is this the "eyebrows complimenting guy"? If so, sounds like he's just a little awkward. Honestly, it sounds like you have a tendency to overanalyze things that don't really need overanalyzing. Are you familiar with the term self-sabotaging? That kinda sounds like what you're doing.
We have no idea what he meant.
Your options are 1.) Accept the compliment and continue to see him or 2.) Stop seeing him.

It was just a nice compliment. He's saying you're really pretty and that you don't have a huge ego like many/most pretty girls do.
And I think Ms. Vanilla, chessimprov, and Hokiefan are WAY off base. (No offense is meant though.)
Then why call them out instead of just responding directly to them?
You don't have to state who you disagree with to get your point across. Kind of seems like you're trying to get the OP to disregard their statements or discredit them in some way.....

Can't stop people from giving their opinions and I think whether or not she takes their opinions to heart or believes them is her responsibility. Not yours. I just didn't agree with the way you went about it. It was petty and provocative. But that's just my opinion, that's all.
