I know this has been posted before, but I wanted some opinions on my specific situation. Whenever somebody gets arrested, all I read on the Internet are horrible comments trashing the person who was arrested. Well, I was surprisingly arrested many years ago for unknowingly having an invalid driver's license. I had just moved to a new state and had unknowingly been driving for too long on my old state's driver's license. I was too focused on other things at the time to think about this fact. I went to jail. Unfortunately, this mugshot is still on the Internet, though harder to find. So I want some opinions on this situation. Most people don't know anything about this, but a few people have brought it up after they found my mugshot.

Wow... jail time for driving with an invalid driver's license? Which state?

In NJ, I believe it is penalties plus a possible license suspension.

Depends. Your situation, it's not terrible. I'd give you a pass.

Now, assault, rape, fraud, anything along those lines? No thanks!

It was in the Southeast. I've read they tend to do more of these types of arrests where I was. I don't live there anymore. That's all I really want to say (anonymous and all).

Any way you can get it expunged? While it might not create an issue in the dating realm, it might create an issue in the employment realm.

In some states, you CAN be arrested for driving without a valid license. In Texas, you usually do not get arrested on the very first time now. But years ago, you could be.

So, things may have changed from when you did get the arrest (in the past).

However - in answer to your original question. I personally would NOT date someone with a criminal record - as I am a probation officer. And, I've been in the criminal justice field since age 19 (I am age 49). People with an arrest record would not interest me.

But, if I REALLY liked a woman, and I later found out that they had previously been arrested for driving without a license.... And, this was the ONLY thing on her criminal history - I MIGHT consider it.

I dated guys with criminal records. I don't care if they were in a bar fight 20 years ago or smoked/sold some weed.

However, of course rape/murder/hard drugs... total deal breaker, even if I found out much later - my feelings would die immediately.

Southern Georgia, Valdosta, Ga to be specific. First hand experience here got 30 days plus a $1,100 fine.

This. People make mistakes when they are young sometimes. I would not date a man who hasn't learned from his mistakes and not become a more improved version of himself, however.
