What?! He's behaving like a child just because you (presumably) told him you'd like to have dinner just the two of you?
It's very strange that he wants to invite a 3rd and 4th wheel to dinner
every time. Have you approached the issue in the spirit of compromise, and said something like you enjoy the other couple's company, and dinner with them is fine from time to time, but you'd like to enjoy his company at dinner alone occasionally, too? Does he invite the other couple to dinner on Valentine's Day and your birthday as well?
