And I'm not blaming everyone around me for my issues, although most times they just contribute to them
As far as the 'nonsense' I post,as I've stated,to some it's nonsense to others of us it's reality.
I'm going to quote something from a conversation I had with someone on CD and it goes a little something like this...
"It's like they see everything thru rose-colored glasses. And I don't know what stake they have in the city unless they sell real estate. I'd rather tell the truth & keep someone safe or at least aware. I'd feel awful if something I sugar-coated ended up getting someone hurt or killed."
Btw artsyguy you're really batting a thousand today!
Well you got me there..... because I DO sell real estate!
I am fairly new to Philly and don't have a real stake in it yet, but it's just the CONSTANT trash talk annoys me. I get the same way about the people who trash London on the UK board. In fact, I don't get there much anymore because of it.
Having said that I have never sugar coated anything. I always repeat what someone said on the Philly board; that Philly is like Boston, surrounded by Detroit (no offense, I've never actually been to Detroit).
I KNOW there are issues, I KNOW it has faults, I KNOW there are neighborhoods you don't want to wander into by mistake. There are also a lot of great things which make it better than the far majority of American cities that I have been to.
Honestly I'm just annoyed that this BS has followed me from the Philly board to here.

Hoboken's probably gonna smack me for askin this but Im curious. Why do you feel youre stuck. Do you two live in the same part of PA.? I mean maybe her part really is nicer than yours.

Not even in a different part of the state but the city! Talk about diverse surroundings!

Believe me, I know that I am lucky to be able to live in the part of Philly we live in. Center City is excellent, as is Chestnut Hill, etc. I do get that a lot of people can't afford to live in these areas though.
It is one of the more affordable East Coast cities, but it's still expensive to live in the center of things.
I am always just hoping for a more balanced view - some good, some bad.
What's a tactful way to say your car got broken into and a drunk neighbor just assaulted a bunch of people?
in a British accent
