How can you have a lot of interest in meeting someone from an online dating site with probably less insight into how they actually think?

"Crush" is a bit ridiculous, of course, but I don't think it's seriously implied. But there are some interesting folks, a lot of loony-birds, and others that would, if not dating material, would probably still be interesting to hang out with.

Yes, indeed. She'd know soooo much more about them...

There are several people here (men and women) that I feel I have a pretty good measure of based upon their posts.

It's not unlike the exchange of letters that people used to do when separated by distance a few generations past.

Throw in a picture or two so there is some modicum of physical attraction and it's not that hard to *like* someone via a forum such as this.

I can tell you for a fact that there are gals on this forum I'd have dated if we lived close to each other and were both single at the time. There are also guys on here that I would have had a beer with and hung out with too.

Actually, I find that people tend to be more honest in their writing than in verbalizing. You can tell a lot about a person by how they write and what subjects they like to write about.

I'd say "buyer beware".
Anyone can be anything on the net, and post any picture.
Why not try to meet someone in real life in your own town, close to where you live? So you spent time talking to people on a forum, when you could meet people in real life....
