what's the best excuse you've ever come up with to call off sick from work???

I had a customer tell me to tell my boss that I have "rhinorrhea" if I want a day off :P

(it is the medical term for a runny nose :P)

Anyone else ever done something absolutely RIDICULOUS to call off????

I want to hear juicy stories, like you called in and then almost ran into your boss at the grocery store but you ducked behind a display before they saw you........... haha! (think Ferris Bueller!)

A couple of years after college and still in our early working years, a friend and I feigned illness and even got sick notes from our respective Dr's. all because we got a really cheap package vacation to Morocco. Took off for a week and came back looking a wee darker and healthier than ever .

In England you have statutory sick days so still get paid for a certain amount of days.

I don't make up fake excuses. If we want or need a day off, we take one. My job doesn't differentiate between sick days and personal days.

In general, we try to coordinate our days off so that our projects don't get screwed up. It's called being an adult.

He is drug free now and I tease him all the time about his "dead" aunt...I just love him because he is so self effacing and can laugh with me about it...and yes, he is an amazing artisan...

Most companies that offer benefits, have the same thing here. I accrue 12 paid days a year for sick leave. It's up to me when I use them.

The irony is that now I work for myself and employ people...I've got symptoms of the flu so it should hit me any day now and I HAVE TO WORK.
