I'd go up a few notches and take a look at the Saab 9-3, the Volvo S60, Hyundai Genisis, or Mercedes C class. The Caddy CTS is a good car but too flashy for my taste. If I need a truck I'll rent one. My cousins have trucks and SUVs but they need them for their work and play (hunting, fishing, and camping). The previous poster really does appear to be over compensating for something based upon how much he's willing to pay to improve his appearance and status. Newsflash for you, people who are comfortable with who they are don't need to show off what they can buy.
this is so very true.

As someone who drives a large truck, I've encountered this in NYC and other lots in metro areas. Do you know why they don't take trucks? It has nothing to do with their "association". It's about $$$. It's as simple as trucks take up more room OR they don't clear the garage. If you pay them enough, they'll find a spot for it...usually right up front.

I completely agree. No pretty boys for me.

I've dated "truck guys" and "car guys" and I tend to prefer the attitude of the truck guys. I love hiking, watching sports, going to games, backyard barbecues, etc. and the truck guys seem to fit in with that.

I guess it depends on why a guy bought the flashy car to begin with. If he bought it because he likes that kind of car, and it was always his dream to have one, then fine. If he bought it to try to impress others, well... LOSER!

I'm a "car girl" but only because I didn't want to spend $50K on the SUV I wanted a year ago. I "settled" for an Acura TL.

I used to try to "impress' with what I drove. Then I grew up. I frankly don't care what others think of my rides now. I drive what I like or need. And I'll drive them anywhere, like thru downtown St. Louis or Chicago I drove my dually pulling a 53 ft gooseneck enclosed car hauler. (you should see the looks! hehehe) And all those little trying to impress idiots? They got out of the way! Now if you want attention, and there is no way to avoid it, my trips to town in this was always an experience, wanted or not!;

Class, JLB? You think paying $300 for sunglasses gives you class? I don't think so. Now, if you had posted that you had put $300 in the Salvation Army kettle, I would call that having some class.

Just when I think I've read the best possible post on C-D, another one comes along to shatter the lead! I'd rep 10000 pts if I could!!!!!

This is not about a truck or the lack of one, but class. This vent was published in our local paper today:

People that wear articles of clothing with the designer's logo emblazoned across them think to themselves, "I bet everyone is impressed with my Ralph Lauren shirt," when, in fact, most of us are thinking, "Look at that jerk that paid $90 for a $20 shirt."

It is a rainy day in GA, so when I get out this morning I have to decide if I want the Honda Pilot or the Ford Ranger to get all wet today.

Trucks are the most common, plain, "middle class" thing there is. Nothing stinks more of the South and fat, stupid Americans than a pickup truck.

But at least in the educated areas of this country, unless you're a construction worker or an independent contractor, someone driving a truck is going to take a few hits to their reputation.

Myself, personally, I wouldn't date anyone who drove a truck. That's the last thing I'd want to be seen in, since at least right now I have the economic resources to buy my way to higher ground.OH NOES!

LOL. Well, this common, plain, middle-class, southern, fat, stupid, uneducated American just cant figure out how to haul horses, goats, hay, fencing material, etc., etc. without my pick up truck. I do miss my little car tho. Hey, you know your a red-neck when you know how may bales of hay you can fit in the trunk of a Toyota corolla.

Ok, Im the truck person. My bf drives a car and pays to have things fixed. My dh drives his mommys Lincoln town car and can fix about anything. Go figure.
