Yes, I answered a CL ad and wound up dating the guy for a year and a half.

It wasn't exactly a dating ad, but more of a post by him since he traveled to my area frequently for work and was looking for someone to have dinner with when in the area. We met and things just really clicked.

I do read the ads for some entertainment though! I wonder if those whacky posts ever find what they're looking for!

Actually most women's CL ads "respond to me" (when I get to read them for fun) that they're seeking a hookup and also soliciting free dinners from men.

I don't think CL usually involves dinner.

That's what you think.

When the women in those affected ads are saying that the man to take them out to dinner, what other meaning is there that he's to wine and dine her?

I've not seen those ads.

But really, what is this internet myth about women dating for free dinners? Do you guys really date women who are so broke that they will waste two hours prepping and another two listening to some guy they find physically repulsive blather on, just for twenty bucks worth of hot food?

That's five bucks an hour, for some pretty unpleasant work.

I have a female friend who said that she doesn't feel she should be going on a coffee date since she had to spend so much time getting ready and putting on a sexy outfit. It was mandatory that she go to dinner

A few years ago while getting my teeth cleaned a dental hygienist admitted to me that the main reason she was on match.com was to get free dinners from guys.

"Twenty dollars" is an IHOP or Denny's date. A mid-priced restaurant with 2 drinks and the tip the cost is at least double that.
Closer to 3 hours rather than 4.

Right. If she spends $200 on her hair and $100 on nails and waxing, and I dunno how much on a dress, and he spends $75 on dinner and drinks -- why does he whine?

You understand we are talking only about the price of her food, not his, right? The most expensive place in my city, entrees range $15-22.
