At her best friend's wedding, whose father was an old family friend. My grandmother had recently passed away and no one in my family was in the mood to make any public appearances, so I had to "volunteer" to represent the family at the wedding. The rest is history.
My roommate moved out, I ran an ad, met a lot of very strange people and took my ad down.
