Well I've seen a lot of women hit it and go as well.

No I think more the problem is everyone knows your business and ends up in the middle of the ups and downs of the relationship. Plus I've seen other people turn jealous or if the relationship goes south you might have other issues as well.

I personally have a policy to avoid mixing business with my personal life. It's inevitable I am friends with many people I work with, but I think people are wise not to get involved at work romantically.

OP...go for the drink... Talk to her.

You may find out that she is different in a public dating situation.

If it seems like it is going well...Ask to see her again and slide a litte remark..."I'm glad to hear that you are available to date." Look for her reaction...

I was the replacement for a woman who got into a terrible fight with her exboyfriend in the office she worked in. Her (my) boss was a pretty strict guy and he fired her on the spot after the loud cursing fight they had.

See it didn't pay to date someone you work with this women lost her job over it.The work place is for work it's not for meeting people to date!!
