Gay men's object of envy (and fascination and attraction etc.) are not really women, but rather other men, or more accurately: masculinity.
It's probably one of the major differences between male-to-male attraction and a heterosexual one. There's a lot of envy (in this case to be distinguished from jealousy) going on.
This is a generalization, but it's true nevertheless.
That is very very true. A lot of envy with gay men. It is immature and unhelpful to a productive life if you ask me.
