Ugh!!! Been there, definetely DONE that!!! it is so embarrasing, even worst when the other starts getting upset because of the missunderstanding!!! The cool ones laugh at you and continue with the convo... lol...
I'm a communications major, and this was one of the discussions we had in our first class.
We learned how even body language can send the wrong signals, and add people from different cultures to the mix, you may be offending people and never know it!

That reminds me once when I Implied a girl (and couple) I was talking to was expecting, one slight problem she wasn't. Its a mistake you only make once........
When I was young and at the bars it took every ounce of courage to ask this girl to dance. She eventually did dance with me and this is what I was thinking as we danced...

What I actually said was...
