Facebook responsible for a fifth of divorces

""I was really surprised to see 20 percent of all the petitions containing references to Facebook. The most common reason seemed to be people having inappropriate sexual chats with people they were not supposed to.""

The ones that didn't use Yahoo! Messenger or MSN Messenger or ICQ or AOL finally were snookered in by Facebook.

I think the fact that people can hunt you down by real name on facebook is what makes it an even bigger deal. Not like your high school flame knows to look up yahoo msg names like : snookiefoot99 or something..lol

True. It's just another avenue to meet people - this time, people from your past.

per OP
nope-- facebook is the weapon. the cause is the basic need of both spouses is no longer being met. b4 the war called "divorce frenzy", which btw guys are losing. 50 years ago, our grandparents had obligations . they were not perfect , were not 100% compatible, but had obligations and met them. how many do that now? i think not.

Wow -- so people can commit adultery and blame it on face book?

What if you ran into someone from your highschool in the mall or grocery store? That shouldn't make you cheat on a spouse anymore than if they found you on facebook.

To me it sounds like a new excuse for the same old cheating on spouses.

A sorta LET THERE BE LIGHT kinda weapon thing...

No doubt...But that whole lazy factor did keep so many skeevies in check. Obligations....Yes...I sometimes wonder if its partly to blame. Lack of honor in obligations & honesty. No one wants a hero these days. They just want it easy within the current moment they are living. Neo motif S&G

Facebook makes it easier. I mean you can look up just about every person you ever had a relationship w/ and they are only a click away....not me tho, I stay far away from Facebook.

Even if you find them, you don't have to contact them. Even if you contact (but why would you) them doesn't mean you have to have sex with them.

It's just the new version of "The Devil made me do it" that Adam and Eve used.
