By "de-crush", I mean stop having a crush on a woman.

Short of avoiding the person, not talking to them, or being rude (which in this instance, neither of them are advisable), what does one do?

Grow out of it. Crushes are a temporary thing most of the time.

You might avoid in the meantime.

Crushes don't last a life-time so you might as well find other activities to entertain yourself other than continuously think about the woman on repetitive occasions....

Make an application that chooses a woman (or a man, or either, different strokes y'know) at random from Facebook to crush on. After a few days or a week or two, repeat the process.

If you get your ex or your sister or something, just spin the wheel again. Unless, like, that's your thing.

She is somebody I work closely with, so avoidance is unrealistic.

by seeing for real who they are. often a "crush" is in your head 100%. you have fallen in love with someone that does not exist.
dont feel bad, people marry and make this discovery 24 months after the ceremony.
its called the reverse frog/prince syndrome. then a new prince charming steps in, the lawyer.

Have you tried rationalizing your situation? If it's someone at work, you probably see her when she's looking her best, she's always 'on', possibly in a position of strength which brings out her best.
You're really only seeing a small part of the whole person, which in a way is probably lucky.

Aside from being work colleagues, I'm assuming there are other variables which mean you 'shouldn't' have a crush on this person..if not, can you enjoy it while it lasts, knowing it probably won't develop? (Or at least until you can find someone new to direct your energies towards, as suggested above.)

You could act on your crush. If she shoots you down that would effectively end it. If she is agreeable then you could see where it leads.
