I know plenty of women who have joked about it but not anyone who did it. I agree with PasstheChocolate, if you're gay/lesbian, you start out that way. You may go the other way to meet society's expectations but inside you must feel differently.

They clearly are not as straight as they purported themselves to be. Whilst sexuality is fluid, nobody really immediately jumps from being straight to gay.

I reckon most women who do this properly have some underlying homosexual/bisexual tendencies, and claiming that men are pigs give them a pretext to fully explore that side of their being.

I don't believe that women (or men) choose to be gay or that a woman "becomes" gay b/c she is sick of dealing with men. Sometimes, it is failed r-ships with men that cause women to explore and then to realize that they are (and have always been) gay.

As someone who is fed up with men and dating, there is nothing in this world that could cause me to try lesbianism. In fact, I would rather spend the rest of my life alone than with a woman as my SO (or even dating them) b/c my biological urge attracts me to men. Lesbianism has never appealed to me and could never satisfy me the way that a relationship with a man, even a horrible one, ever could.

To answer your original question, no I don't know anyone who made that claim. Everyone I know who was married to/dated the opposite sex and then switched said that they were always gay, they just tried to fight it or hoped that living a straight life would change things.

I don't think you can 'make yourself gay' by swearing off the opposite sex, anymore than a gay person can 'make themselves straight' by marrying and having children with the opposite sex.

I probably didn't express myself clearly. I'll try and nutshell it; yes I believe people are gay, and not just 'fed up'. I was also trying to say that I didn't find that so hard to believe, as there seemed to be an amount of incredulity about this possibility in your post. Not saying that's bad, just another opinion.

I know women who have been married to men, had children and gave into their preferences later on in life. They say they are happier now and even glad they don't have to deal with the complications of relationships with men, but they don't hate them. I personally don't believe people choose to be gay, so I doubt that someone who literally gave up on men would be any more fulfilled.

Thoughts?
Ahem..I was briefly married to a stripper. I was a DJ at a strip joint. I observed what went on there. Many girls came in straight. Many girls turned at least BI. Why?

They spent hours being the object of desire to many males they did not feel attracted to. A lot eventually came to loath males. Also the lesbian Strippers are quite adept at proving they can do it better for a girl than any male can. You already take your clothes off for males you don't like, why not give women a try? And walla..you end up with a lot of girls engaging in same sex, who never thought they would.

I think some people just want companionship no matter how they can get it.

Didn't mean to be unclear myself. I stated that I don't believe one chooses to be gay, so I know people fall in love with others of the same sex every day. I just don't think being fed up will determine your sexuality, though I do believe these experiences could place someone in a position to explore what was already there, as Starlajane suggested.

I can see that happening. Sure.

Actually I am sure many gay men & women laugh at those so-called ex-gay groups like Exodus International and why not? Many of these "ex-gay" people STILL have profiles on many gay websites like the "ex-lesbian" from my hometown or the "ex-gay" my old radio station tried to interview only to find out he had done a porno for the gay porn studio Bearfilms AFTER he was supposed to had "gone straight" and joined Exodus..mention the word "bi-sexual", many of these people pull a Richard Simmons by putting their hands on their hips and say "...WELL !!!"...or they say "..please contact my lawyer" as in the case with the "ex-lesbian" in my hometown anyway.

Hmmm....sounds like you are trying to stir the pot a bit maybe....??
I know/have known, several lesbians. Every single one had some significant drama in their life regarding men. I attribute their "lesbianism" to that drama. (I'm not looking for any argument or debate here....that is simply my experience, and my belief. )
