Okay, now I feel really fortunate. When I have troubles, I talk to my best friend. When I was going through the toughest time in my life she picked me up like a stray puppy lost on the street. She made me eat and listened. She was also going through a tough time because a family member was dying. Once we were in a restaurant and we both started to cry. We handed each other our napkins--I'll never forget that and I know she will always be there to listen, no matter what I do.
That would be too much like the right thing to do. Advice is a lot easier to give than take.
I know. That's why I'm so curious about the consistent preachers... At least I have the decency to admit I don't follow my own advice most of the time.
Unfortunately, myself. I've never been able to burden others with my problems -- never been able to admit that I could use some help. When my late wife suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm, the hospital insisted that I call someone. I called our best friends, then my son (not hers).
I turn to close friends, family, music, drive my car around to try to solve the issue or make light of it.
