I love younger men cause they're cute, fun, optimistic, have similar tastes in music and film, and always think I'm younger than they are - at least the ones I've dated. My current bf is 7 years younger. We act silly and playful and free.

As for older guys, they have to be runners/hikers/snowboarders/surfers, work in the creative professions, and have an "Eddie Vedder" type look (he's the only older guy type that would feel young to me).

I never looked for anything in a younger guy. Wasn't interested, in fact was celibate for three years before my younger bf found me. I am 50, he is 25 and we have been seeing each other for 15 months. He says I am calm, relaxed, intelligent and that he could sit and listen to me all day. He also says I am the horniest woman he has ever met. That said, our relationship is not all about sex, and in fact as far as the older woman teaching the younger man about sex...that is a myth. There is nothing I could have taught him, in fact I am the student and spent the first three months in a state of shock and delight. Big difference between men of my generation and those younger who have grown up with access to internet porn. What can I say about him? He makes me laugh, we have a lot of fun together. He is tall, good looking, more chauvanistic than I have put up with with other men, but half the time its just to wind me up. He works hard, doesn't drink very much, sings me songs, cuddles me all night, is a deep thinker with a mature and sensible outlook. I feel as though he is the older one in the relationship. He is kind and respectful and we are honest with each other. I don't see us lasting forever but then again did not expect to be with him past our first night. Our relationship has grown a lot in 15 months and it is the happiest, most fullfilling one I have been in. I don't care what people think, I don't care about silly labels like cougar and toyboy. It's not what we're about. I take each day one at a time and am just happy and grateful that I have some one in my life who is so loving and good to me.

Women generally don't look for younger guys, it's the younger guys who seek them out. But if women did look for younger guys, they'd be looking for the same characteristics as they do in any guy: maturity, integrity, thoughtfulness, brain power, heart power, capable of supporting himself and saving for retirement, responsible, sense of humor, no baggage (that's filed under "maturity"), energy and stamina where it counts...etc.

I suspect they're looking for something that doesn't remind them of a couch potato. I wouldn't think it's "maturity", but rather the opposite - someone who they could go to night clubs, out to dinner, out door activities like skiing, hiking.

Probably the same reasons some men like dating younger women and think women his own age wouldn't be fun.
