I dont believe the Bible God created the earth. But lets say he did. That in itself raises a number of questions.

The earth is God's flagship, the place he chose for his human experiment. Why did he place humans in such an unstable ever changing, hostile environment?

He is all powerful. He could so easily have made a planet that did not have shifting tectonic plates, causing devastating earthquakes. He could have made a planet which had predictable, stable weather patterns that even without mans interference, cause destruction and havoc to the environment.

Only 29% of the earths surface is land and of that a huge amount is uninhabitable.

We also have poisonous animals, insects and sea-life and we have a constant battle against deadly bacteria every day. Seems like we do well to reach old age.

My point is when people point out the glorious sunsets and beautiful landscapes as evidence of God's handiwork and love, they often forget the natural dangers and evils this planet holds for humankind. What does this tell us about the Creator?

That there isn't one seems like a reasonable answer to me.

Thanks for asking this question, I've often wondered the same thing.

It seems very strange that from the day human life enters the world, forces are at work to destroy or keep man from inhabiting Earth. Why would a caring loving God, place man on a planet with so many forces, such as cancer, incurable diseases, murder, etc, out to destroy mankind. If it weren't for modern medicine, half the human population would probably be wiped out.

First, god probably doesn't exist so most of the questions are probably invalid.

Second, if god does exist, the earth is a rough place for humans to exist is in the noise compared to all the other nasty things associated with humans like war, disease, innocent people being killed etc.

If god really does exist, he's a jerk.

From the OP:
"My point is when people point out the glorious sunsets and beautiful landscapes as evidence of God's handiwork and love, they often forget the natural dangers and evils this planet holds for humankind. What does this tell us about the Creator?"
This is the very nucleus of christain thought - just ignore the negatives.

According to Christianity, the simple answer is...SIN. See Genesis 3. The effects of sin are visiting themselves randomly upon the Earth.

I don't see anything in Genesis 3 about sin being the cause of earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis
