This is my first time writing in the Religion forum. I was pondering on something this morning. I don't believe in fate or destiny, I don't think God or "the universe" has a predetermined plan for any one of us, I think we each determine our life with the choices we each make every day of our lives. Nothing "happens for a reason" and nothing is "meant to be". Only we are responsible for what happens in our lives. However, I do believe in other things such as karma, I believe anyone who does evil in their life will somehow get punished either in life or in the next (if there is one). I don't know why I believe in that since I'm not very religious, I believe in evolution and science, etc. It's just a feeling I have inside of me, kind of like we inherently know what's good and evil. I also believe in other supernatural and psychic stuff. So if I believe one thing, shouldn't that mean I have to believe in everything else? If I believe in God, shouldn't I also believe there was a first man and woman and that we didn't evolve from apes? I don't know lol, my question might be stupid, I was just pondering on it when I was deep in thought this morning.
Questioning your beliefs is a good thing. It is part of the maturation process.
People like to believe there is some sort of justice in the world. The world can seem like a pretty horrible place if you can't. Who wouldn't like for good people to be rewarded and for bad people to be punished?
I have been around long enough to accept that life isn't fair at all.
I know it feels like you inherently know good and evil, but IMHO the views you hold are a reflection of the culture you were raised in.
There are plenty of people who believe in god and also believe in science and evolution. You don't have to believe in Adam and Eve, many see such stories from the bible as parables.
Actually - that is not necessarily true. I believe you have said this to me before but I will explain again.
Let me put it like this. To my husband, I am the most beautiful woman in the world. To him - this is true. However, I'm not so delusional as to think that I am the most beautiful woman in the world to all men (just most of them - hahaha).
That is your husband's opinion. It's not a fact.

That is a most likely a fact (truth). Only you know for sure.

My husband thinking I'm beautiful is a fact and his opinion. It is a fact that it is his opinion.
Look - you are free to believe whatever you believe. We all are. I know - you think I'm wrong. I'm okay with that. I could pretend to believe what you think I should believe - but then I would be a liar and a hypocrite and I am neither of those things. I am true to myself. I think we should all be true to ourselves - it's the only way we can be happy and at peace.
There are some things that are universally true and there are other things that aren't. Like I said before - I know you think my beliefs are wrong. I think your beliefs are wrong. What does it matter? I'm not trying to change your beliefs. I think the world is a more interesting place because we all have different beliefs. Are you just trying to say that you are right and everyone else is wrong? I don't understand what you are trying to prove.
oh my Jimmie you are even an expert here too??? But of course it is fact to him..........lol
Is is a fact that he believes it (according to Dewdrop). It is not a fact that she's the most beautiful woman in the world (I'm sure she's quite attractive ).

But that's my point. To my husband - it is a fact. To others, it is not. Mostly because just not everyone has seen me yet. Hahahaha!
