True!

I took a course in abnormal psychology in college. Scary is an understatement.

Amazing none the less!

I deem religious belief to be profound. Take Christianity for example: the Son of God was born of a virgin mother, performed spectacular miracles during his time on earth, claimed that he will return at the end of world, was eventually crucified and died for the sins of all humankind and was resurrected afterwards.

Now consider how many hundreds of millions of people over the past 2000 years have not only believed in this religion, but have often sacrificed their lives or the lives of others for this belief. Think of all the leaders of nations and empires, some of which have been among the most powerful in history, which have not only held this belief but have been inspired to claim entire continents in the name of it.

Now THAT is profound.

a drop of pond water. Is about as profound as anything, one can find in the entire universe. A tiny drop of water the size of a match head. The molecular dynamics that make it assume a spherical shape. the number of atoms in it outnumbering the number of humans that inhabit the earth. And the view through a microscope. It is a tiny world teeming with life.

Watching the Daytona 500, watching the wrecks, watching a 200 gallon tank of jet fuel explode and burn on the track with no injuries and finally, watching them clean up the mess with Tide laundry detergent!

Profoundly awesome, and wicked weird.

Science, how we've managed to find all those patterns... almost like our minds are becoming intune with the deeply profound rythem of the Universe... think of pi, e=mc^2, and chemical potential (Gibb's free energy). All the more wonderful when you see and realise the flow of those patterns yourself. I remember snowflakes... look at this computer screen. It seems as if though the deeper i go, the more depth there is.

The sky on a clear night.

Just laying out on a blanket and looking up at the vast expanse of the universe. Wondering what is out there, who is out there. An unknown number of other worlds.

Makes a person feel so small and insignificant in comparison.
