Do the very wealthy like millionaries and billionaires go to church? It seems that the more wealth people attain the less religious they become.
Yes, but their children who benefit from that wealth without having worked for it are usually atheist. Wealthy people in general don't teach their children the value in religion and spoil them with everything they ever wanted. That is why most people under 30 today who grew up in suburbia are irreligious.

I don't know. I think the parents might teach them the value of religion to society in general, but also teach them that they have to make up their own minds about a god because although the parents might go to church, they are not sure that they believe, either, and don't want to lie to the kids.
Just wait. Our country is undergoing a huge economic transition due to jobs going overseas. There will be a lot fewer pampered kids and the government will probably cut back on the safety net, so there will be a lot more desperation and poverty.
Should that be the game, though? That people who have the good life don't need a god because they are almost in a heaven on earth, and to get people to believe again you must impoverish them? Isn't that a belief born out of desperation and not in any way proof of a god's existence?

Those kids benefit from exposure to higher education levels. The more education you receive, the less likely you will be to be a church goer.

my family are struggling working people and I am atheist.

Yes. Education trains the mind to think critically, so that throws out the mythic parts of religion, more or less. There are other considerations, however, that some religions will address and that education usually ignores, like caring for your neighbor and your society, being kind, extending yourself to others, volunteering to make this a better world.
We are not merely logical animals because machines function logically, moreso than we. We have heart and compassion. I think sometimes the upper classes want their children to be well rounded and compassionate and not ego driven snobs. To this end, they may send their children to church as well as attending themselves. Good citizenship is expected of all levels of society, not just the poor.
I heard a preach once about the sheep and the goats, the goats give milk and have their purpose in God church. Some folks just attain money one way or another and SOME are vey liberal in the giving, and promote more giving from thier friends for charities, medicine etc etc,. Take Bill Gates, all has been given away except a few $ of the vast empire for his family, and there is a pledge going around to give all the wealth away except a portion - again for family etc. God will judge the heart, not the purse.
