Evidently not. If 'i' was there in any practical way then there would not be such a lot of the doctrinal wrangling that we see over on Christianity. 'i' would say 'This is the way it it'. And that would be an end to debate.

Of course one can say that 'i' was there but couldn't actually do anything useful or that would somehow be abrogating Free Willy and turning us all into volitionless robots.

But then, If 'i' stood for 'imagination', then the result would be just the same.

Sure, it's true, in a pschological sense.

It's the same at a funeral - people gather in the name of the deceased to respect him/her, and the deceased is there in their thoughts. That's what's true in the OP's sense - but at least at a funeral you normally have some hard evidence that the deceased existed!

Well, I really have to say, for some reason I DO have a "higher" experience
when I am with others...I don't know why.

Yesterday, Sunday I went to an SRF Sunday Service for the first time.
That would be Self Realization Fellowship (Paramahansa Yogananda).
Same thing happened as with any other gathering of God centered people.

And that is not to say I don't get VERY 'high' alone in prayer or meditation or listening
to a sat sang CD or youtube.
(Sat sang= being in the company of truth)

Some years ago I attended this prayer meeting , and the minister prayed those Words of God ``where two or three are gather together in my name , there am I In the midst of them..``, and the meeting God presence came on the meeting in a strong living water in and around the people of the meeting , and even the minister ended up praying to Jesus in silence , and God anointing of His living Water filled the chapel , where the time when on and late before the minister discovered the time was extra late , and closed the meeting ..... See when people speak Gods Words , and have faith then God will honor the prayers and bring His grace .....

I used to sit in the garden of their temple on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. I never went to a service but I always enjoyed just drinking in the serenity and beauty. Lovely people.

Their temple in Pacific Palisades, CA has a portion of Gandhi's ashes enshrined. It's another beautiful place for prayer and meditation and visitors are welcome.

The opening statement is political. It should read - Where there is one - there am I.
