Huston Smith "The World's Religions" is an excellent primer. Huston Smith is a religious studies scholar and that book is used in many college level comparative studies courses (non biased toward any one religion).
That site is incredibly biased. Not the best to view if you're looking for an objective opinion without the assumption that Christianity/The Bible is true and historically accurate. Many religions aren't even mentioned. Where's Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, or Shinto?
It gives first-hand sources for whatever they say. If it talks about Mormonism, it cites the references from LDS sources.

BTW, not all articles are cited. Lots of it is just ramblings, mostly authored by the President and Founder of the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry. Some citations are from blatantly biased sources. I'd actually like to know why the bibliography for Islam contains texts such as Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics, How To Respond to Muslims, A Christian's Response to Islam, and The Islamic Invasion.
Can you give an example?

The first page linked in the "Islam" section is a letter to Muslims, stating that "... I teach that Christianity is true. Therefore, Islam, cannot be right. I say this outright so that no Muslim will accuse me of being deceptive or having a hidden agenda. My goal is to convert Muslims to Christ so they may find salvation in him." (emphasis added). Yep, no agenda at all.
OK? You seem to think it isn't true. Everyone has an agenda--including you.

The atheist section is mostly about why atheism is wrong and why Christianity is right, complete with instructions on how to argue with a non believer.
I briefly viewed other sections; they are just as bad.
BUT, I didn't expect anything less from you, Vizio
Yet, you are unable to actually give an example of where they have printed wrong information.
I found it handy just to Google 'Comparitive religion' which often doesn't compare them but just describes them. Very basic, but comprehensive.
And far better than allowing oneself to be guided to one religious source, even if it doesn't pee all over the others and praise one particular creed to the skies.

You are not an unintelligent person Vizza. You know how it works. You can look at any religion and pick out one or two bad eggs, some scandal or other, bad record on slavery, womens' rights...some political misstep, even a war or persecution, Some conflicting or unscientific doctrine, something in the Holy Book that jarrs...you know how it works. Or one can point to the good work it doess, how many millions it has inspired, the poetry, devotion, martyrs...well, no skip those.. charitable work, education, hospitals, how many notable converts it has - scientists are always good, engineers will do, otherwise. How many scientific discoveries were foreshadowed in the pages of the Holy Book....you know how it works.
It can work with Islam or Christianity. You know how it works..or should. So don't insult our intelligence by playing the 'everyone has an agenda' card. Some people's agendas are simply to give an unbiased reference to the world's various religions.
That will suit the atheist agenda very well indeed.

I studied comparative religion and that was required reading. I would highly recommend Huston Smith for anyone interested in learning about the religions of the world.
Keep in mind there are holes in the book: it doesn't really go over new religious movements, like Wicca, Gnosticism (not new at all, just revived) etc. But NRMs all have plenty of books that explain them.

You and I both know that that doesn't mean a damn thing, Vizio. CARM quotes LDS sources out of contexts and uses those quotes as proof that Mormonism is a "cult." That's hardly unbiased.
If people want to get accurate information on Mormonism, CARM is about as reliable as the National Enquirer would be as a source for current events in the world.
That you would recommend as unbiased a site that has Christian Apologetics in its NAME reveals how clueless you are about the bias in your own views and in mainstream Christianity in general!
