If I push you from a helicopter 10K feet above the ground without a parachute, probably the first scream from your mouth will be "ohhhh my gooooddd" or "helppppp meeeeee !!"
And you are telling me you are gonna drop down and die smiling?
Heck, you can't sit quite even in a roller coaster.

That's the biological fear of death. Yes, almost everyone has it, except for the Extreme Sports crowd.
It's possible to not fear death on an intellectual/rational level, while continuing to have a healthy biological fear of death.

I recently read other quotes by John Lennon, one of which was about fear of death.
He said he had no fear of death because it's "getting out of one car and into another".
Reminds me of that scene near the end of Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" where the dead folks drive to the afterlife in the "souls" of their cars.

If you knew that tonight you will die during your sleep, then you won't be able to sleep all night.

That's not a fear of the end result of death, but of the process. I don't fear dissolution, just the suffering I might endure to get there.
