Not necessarily. People can add their own experiences or ideas or suggestions without debating.

It's a thin line.
If the additions add contradiction... are they not technically debating? In which case a "non-debate" discussion of contradicting free-thoughts would become a hush-hush ignorance fest of divergent proclamations.

I firmly believe that debating is most often a necessity for a good discussion. Ideas must be presented and compared. Otherwise a long string of presentation is either dissonant or confirmatory, instead of productive.
