Faith is believing something that you know isnt true.
Con men (confidence men) use this ability to swindle naive people who don't even realize that such a thing is possible.
Since this is in the "Religious and SPirituality" forum, I'd prefer to go by the Biblical definition of it, which is found in Heb 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
We don't KNOW those things to be untrue. We just can't see them. But when one makes a habit of taking Biblical things and coming up with their own wild and crazy spin on it, I don't see it as too strange that one might call it that.

FAITH: Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.
Agreed. Faith is believing in something you really, really, really hope is true.
Although, daily on these boards we see people deflect truth with their Fundashields lest that shaky faith become shakier.

Based on what these posters are saying I guess Mrs5150, nearly all our Christian friends and myself don’t operate in faith. Gotta love the Holy Spirit! There is plenty of evidence, but the skeptic always finds a way to “explain” away or deny the spiritual.

There is indeed plenty of evidence, but none of it stand up in debate.
That is whae Faith takes over and you you play the "Holy Spirit" card which is, as I have said a Faith that God is putting all the right answers into your head.
And I mean YOUR head, because those Christians who hold different views to you presumably aren't getting Inspired truth. Don't you see what's wrong with your whole way of thinking?
