excuse unedited grammar

jesus washed his disciples feet to illustrate his humility; furthermore, jesus also illustrated that we are essentially servants for the greater good of our fellow neighbor or neighbors

jesus revealed this as the 2nd most important teaching:

Mark 12:31, 33 (KJV)
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

I see! So just when are Christians going to follow this teaching...along with the teaching that they should sell all their possessions and give the money to the poor.

Loving your neighbors is not new, it is taught in Torah...

jesus was not only trying to change ancient traditional thinking and norms, he was teaching that his faith advocated the common good for everybody, not just believers.

the good samaritan didnt inquire to know the injured mans political, social or religious status before helping him.
he just selflessly helped the man who was left to die on the side of the road. he illustrated this when he talked about the 'rules' of the sabbath day in these verses:

Matthew 12:11-12 (WEB)
11 He said to them, “What man is there among you, who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it, and lift it out?
12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.”

note: i am not converting or persuading people to interpret things differently

i regard the torah too. Job illustrates the practical uncertain things that abruptly occur in life.

jesus used the metaphor "drink from his cup" to refer to the practical uncertainties that occur in life. there are many road blocks that occur life, though not predestined. unlike most who experience a difficult shortcoming, job never lost his faith.

jesus illustrated this when he told this parable:

Luke 8:5-8

World English Bible (WEB)

“The farmer went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell along the road, and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it. Other seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture. Other fell amid the thorns, and the thorns grew with it, and choked it. Other fell into the good ground, and grew, and produced one hundred times as much fruit.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Interpretation:

Luke 8:11-15

World English Bible (WEB)

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those along the road are those who hear, then the devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation. That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. That in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produces fruit with patience.

Jesus said to ONE guy...sell your stuff if YOU want to follow me.
He was teaching THAT one guy.

Just sayin...if everyone were meant to sell all their stuff he and his merry men would not have been put up
in so many homes.

If you read Job again more carefully, you will see that he lost his faith. Then got it back.

Maybe. But he also said if someone asks for something you have to give it to them, and more. And he also said a rich person can't get into heaven.

Buddha also said you have to get rid of everything and have no worldly attachments. How many of us can do that? I'm not even trying.
