It may have seemed like a snarky comment, but it was an honest inquiry.
Why? Why spend time on it, versus any other text? Or any other study? Again...I'm not making this as a negative statement, but an honest question. Why it, versus anything else? What makes it worthy of a person's time and energy? What makes it worthy of implementing its teaching to our lives?

Why? Well for one thing, if you are a person that believes in the existence of gods, wouldn't you want to make sure that you are worshipping the correct god? Surely you wouldn't want to be like our friend 'Iwasmadenew' and be claiming to have had a long search for and found the 'true' religion whilst in reality, made no 'search' at all. Simply went with the flavour that appealed most to him. Didn't even bother to read the holy book related to the religion he claimd to be 'true'. You wouldn't want to be as foolish as that would you old thing. I mean, imagine the consequences huh. Spending all your life worshipping the wrong god whilst, if you had bothered to read the Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism, or the Qur'an and the Hadiths of Islam, or the Agamas of Janism, you might had made a startling discovery. Consider your everlasting suffering and torture at the hands of Waheguru...and all because you didn't bother to read the Guru Granth Sahib and discover that Sikhism was really the true religion.

I've been studying world religions for about 30 years. Started as a teenager. I know what they teach, and I know what the Bible teaches. I don't know the finer details of every religion, nor do I need to know that the only true God is the God of the Bible.

No reason at all. There are many many books you can read and derive pleasure and knowledge from.
But the poetry in The Gita is beautiful and also it has some pretty amazing passages. The dialog between Arjuna and Krishna about action is quite interesting and thought provoking. It provides answers to many of life's questions to ponder. And the evil of war and why Krishna still urges Arjuna to fight and not put his weapons down. Read to be lifted to another universe, to a different time dimension. That's all.
Odd that! I have a Hindu friend that say exactly the same about Brahma.

Yes, and many plump for Brahma and believe that he is the top man. But that's beside the point. The point is that all religions will claim that their god/s are the only "true" ones. Your religion is no different.
Btw, I'm not trying to convert anyone to Hinduism, ha..I'm not Hindu!

on earth Krishna is such a big deal for so many...cuz he is really loved...

So here's a small intro for the curious, that's all.
I started a thread on the poetry of Sikh mystics, too...but it wasn't meant
to convert anyone, either...it's just beautiful.
