In recent years, numerous high - profile religious leaders have resigned following revelations of moral failure, including Carl Lentz, Jerry Falwell Jr and Bill Hybles. Others have been subject to allegations of sexual misconduct, including Jean Vanier and Ravi Zacharias. What would you attribute these moral failures to? Is this simply a total failure of institutional structure? What would you do if you found out the leader of your Church had moral failures of this magnitude? Would you turn a blind eye and keep following them or would you follow a different religious leader? Does the glory of the gospel excuse these despicable acts? Should these leaders be able to minister again?

They are idiots, and trip over themselves. No one to blame but themselves. But this same thing is seen in many areas: politics, sports, business, etc. There's no reason to be singling out their actions as a product purely of religion.
Should be asking what's wrong with leadership in general...

Should be asking what's wrong with leadership across the board...
But how does it go unchecked for so many years? Where do you think the failures stem from?

People aren't paying attention, or if they do, aren't responding accordingly based on what's going on. It really goes beyond comprehension. We'd have to have one of their own respond, and maybe that'l happen I know we can't talk politics here, but the same thing clearly goes on there as well. All sorts of misdeeds, ethics violations, and crimes go on, and people just continue supporting them, sometimes even more so. Completely perverse. Seems like borderline insanity.

Do think these leaders should be forgiven and will they still gain access to the afterlife if they still believe?

They should be punished and/or removed from the church. They'll have to answer for their own actions. It's beyond anyone here to say what might happen to them in the afterlife. Maybe they'll get a good a-kicking on the other side

I think religious leaders are like political leaders or anyone put in a position of power. Some can handle it, but most cannot. I find many of them are egotistical and demanding of undying adoration. I remember several times when I was a Christian that there were instances where leaders would absolutely forbid anyone to question their authority and get downright ugly about it. That's why I don't like to follow either.
