Fundies are so adamantly wrong because they're terrified of their god-thing's temper. They must not allow a shred of doubt about the bible's (laughable) inerrancy lest they earn its ire and get toasted for an eternity.

Poor, cowerin', timorous beasties.*

Are you concerned about the wrath of your own god?
“Most Animistic religions teach that there exists one Supreme Being. He is often described as omniscient, eternal, beneficent, omnipotent and righteous. He is the creator, the moral lawgiver, punishes those who do evil, and blesses those who do good. However, this being has distanced himself from man and cannot be known personally.”

We know all these things. We have a collection of 66 books that tell us all about him. Not to mention the people that are changed by him, and 2000 years of history. That is evidence. You may not LIKE it, but it's there.
Correction; we have a collection of writings that talk about several different gods. Just the Garden of Eden story has two gods. Enki and Enlil, Enki being the serpent god who created of man. The story got re-written to the way it is now before becoming part of the assemblage which is the bible of today, which is still evolving.
Another not so obvious different god is to be found in the book of Job. Two gods actually. The book of Job, like the genesis account has an earlier origin and was modified before being included in what was to become the OT.
So you see, the 66 books of the bible are not an accurate reflection of Jehovah's character.
I have seen the apologetic about the Bible being a lot of different books but all coherent, integrated and all of a piece. They are not. They are, of course about the god of one tribe until you get to the NT and then it is a quite different god, for all anyone can tell. But then just say it's the same and people will think it is.
Let me give an example of story -telling. I used as a kid to be a fan of 'the saint' stories. In his earlier 20's 30's, he was a racist and homophobe (not to say latent gay) but by getting to the 70's he was was getting pretty Woke (aside from the anti -communism). Still the same bloke, supposedly. His character changed to fit the times. God at the least changed from an anti -Gentile god (aside from using gentiles to smash the hebrews from time to time - they had to explain it somehow when they lost) but changed (with the help of some scriptural quotemining by Paul) to a Gentile -loving anti -jew, in the end.
