Lol, inventing your own 'facts' to get a response just makes the religious look dishonest.

Huh, it just occurred to me that your statement supports that no belief in God is the default position.
It is not the case, the Chinese have freedom of religion, and most of the Chinese are religious, including some members of the 'atheist' government.

The CCP is officially Atheist.
They dissuade Religious Beliefs other than Atheism.
The numbers that are seen in Religion demographic listings reflect this...and list China as mostly Atheist.
When they allow it...people "come out" as a Religion other than Atheism...or convert.
For a time they weren't being so difficult about it...but have clamped down as of late.
With over 18% of the world population...if China was reported as even 1/3 Mainstream Religious, that would really effect the numbers.

That is a lot of misrepresentation about what is actually happening.

And even your first link explains why the Chines government attack some religions.

"The officially atheist Chinese Communist Party disapproves of all kinds of grassroots organizations as they are seen to undermine its grip on power."

Correct. They want to hold on to power...so they dissuade Religions that put a God above all, and promote the "No God" Atheist Religion.
But their dissuasion methods can be very heavy-handed.
The "misrepresentation" and "inventing facts" is the way you roll...I go by, How Things Really Are.
You just don't like it that it's a current example of how the Atheist Religion is a impetus for evil doings...much more so than any other Religion. It has been a catalyst for great evil...more than all other Religions combined.

According to the U.S. government,

Religious freedom conditions in China continue to deteriorate. The communist Chinese government has created a high-tech surveillance state, utilizing facial recognition and artificial intelligence to monitor and harass Christians, Tibetan Buddhists, Falon Gong and other religions. Independent experts estimate that between 900,000 and 1.8 million Uighur, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and other Muslims have been detained in more than 1,300 concentration camps in Xinjiang.

LOL.
Seems that one distinguishing characteristic of Atheists in this forum is that they feel entitled to their own facts, and are free of any need to provide any supporting evidence that can withstand any kind of scrutiny.
The legendary Atheists sympathy for muslim women in burqa seems to dissolve completely at the Chinese govt. sponsored rape of the Uighur women and their killing. They must think burqa wearing is worse than being raped and killed.
Perhaps there is a question here for the Ask an Athiest thread but this may not qualify as a legitimate question allowed in that thread as it may be considered an insult and not a good question to ask. So I will just leave it right here.

what strikes me about the "only certain questions may be asked" in the Ask an Atheist thread, is that it really isn't about asking atheists questions at all. It is about following a pre-determined script where the desire is to have both sides of the conversations themself. If the "allowed questions" are already pre-determined and pre-selected, then there is no need for the thread at all, it is simply a soapbox for preaching. it is what many atheists on CD refer to as an "echo chamber." there is no discussion, there is no consideration for many views, there is no dialogue, there is no conversation, and there is no tolerance or allowance for dissent. It is instead simply a tract to preach the party line, bear witness, and evangelize. In my view, the format of ask-me-a-question-so-i-can-talk-about-myself-but-only-ask-me-questions-which-i-approve is a contrived artifice.

Of course, China has been attacking all human rights for around 10 years now. So when you crack down on all dissenters, that will include the religious (especially foreign religions such as Christianity), as well as atheists, politicians, artists, poets, and those Christians who were breaking Chinese laws by holding illegal meetings, etc.

Yet you still have a large religious population estimated to be 70% in China, including Buddhists. The Tibetan Buddhists are persecuted because they are an independent power in Tibet, not because they are Buddhists.

And you still have religious members of the CCP.

The Falon Gong are persecuted because of their size and independence, which China considers a threat.

To pretend this has anything to do with atheism is to ignore the deterioration of other human rights in China. To deliberately misrepresent this just to attack atheism is the sign of an unprincipled Narcissist.

Yes, on political grounds. China has soft borders, where the people who live there have their own way of life that does not resemble that of China. So the Chinese are trying to 'reeducate' the people who live there to follow a more Chinese way of life as described by the Chinese government.
