cg81, you believe the Old Testament saints were able to enter Heaven prior to Jesus' sacrifice?

I am aware of the process for atonement that thefer and ILNC described and realize it was the ritual to offer atonement for sins, but the OP was asking about actually entering Heaven.

Your thoughts?

What I believe is that no one actually enters Heaven until after the judgement. There is a resting place "under the alter" for the saints of the OT and NT. I believe that they are in Jesus' presence in a sense, yet all will wait until the judgement at the end of the world, to go to their final reward.

Jesus did tell the thief on the cross "Today you will be with me in paradise" but the Bible also tells us this:
1 Thes 4:13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

This is a topic, tho, that I have not studied in depth. I should study it more sometime. Here is another thread where we discussed this: //www.city-data.com/forum/relig...-sheep-go.html

Would be they didn't and they haven't?

This is something I began looking at just this past week and I'm inclined to think Heaven is for the future after the judgment. And indeed, the saints rest now.

Accurate? (In your opinion)

All those who were righteous before Christ died and was resurrected have been covered by His blood. He died once, and for all.

Wow, all this makes my head spin, no one really knows, bible said one thing, Jesus said another thing, someone somewhere said something else....

It's so much easier to just to die and become nothing, isn't it? No worries on my part.

The best thing, I think, is to read your Bible and ask God to reveal His truth to you. John 16:13 says that He will guide into all truth.

No Shepsmom, its much easier as Christians to know that when we die that we will spend eternity in God's Kingdom which is Heaven. We do not turn into nothing after death, but keep living and take joy in serving God.

So... what do you do in the meanwhile? Is it like one of those waiting rooms in Beetlejuice where they have a guy who shrinks heads?? Because I think that would be pretty cool.
